Victoria Groundwater Cooling

A pilot Cooling The Tube scheme to reduce temperatures at Victoria Station using environmentally sensitive technology.

YJLi were appointed to install two large chiller units in the lower concourse at Victoria Underground Station.

Cool water was drawn from an underground river and piped through the station passageways and escalator shafts, running behind existing and new cladding and threading around existing services.

A monitoring system was also installed to assist the CTT team in evaluating the scheme.

Due to the intense use made of this station, closure of the area was not possible, so the entire scope was installed during normal engineering hours.
